The British SXS Championship series, sponsored by Polaris for the tenth consecutive year for 2021, has been growing the side-by-side racing scene in the UK every year since it all started ten years ago, becoming the premier championship for all makes and models of SXS across the country.

Taking place at off-road tracks all over the UK, The Polaris British SXS Championship brings you the original SXS racing experience and was the first-ever championship to open its tracks to the all-new youth class in 2016 – paving the way for the future of SXS racing!

It all started ten years ago in 2011, and it’s just grown and grown since then…

Back then, Martin Fletcher, who is a Polaris dealer at Nora SXS, realised that side-by-sides could plug a huge gap in the UK racing scene. 

There were a lot of people interested in higher-risk sports like enduro and motocross, who either didn’t want to race due to the amount of risk involved, or couldn’t race because of things like injuries, fitness or mobility.

The fact that side-by-sides have a full roll cage makes them a much safer option for competitive racing.

No matter a driver’s age, strength, ability or size, our championship gives everybody the opportunity to get out there and get their adrenaline fix.

The vehicles are like nothing else. A Polaris side-by-side is a hybrid of a quad, a motocross bike, a rally car… It’s like a swiss army knife for motorsport. 

Most importantly, they’re a lot of fun.

We started exclusively with Polaris machines ten years ago, and since then, British SXS racing has become the premier championship for all makes and models of SXS across the UK.

It’s now a full weekend event with many rounds taking places across the UK throughout each season.

We run two main championships: Firstly, we have the Polaris British Championship – and in that we have a 1000 class for side-by-sides up to 1000cc, plus an open class for all modified and turbo-charged machines.

We also have the Polaris British Youth Championship aimed at riders who are too young to compete in the senior championship.

With the Polaris Ace 570 on the market, it was the perfect vehicle to open up the sport to younger ages, so that’s exactly what we did in 2016 – making us one of the first side-by-side championships in the world to open the tracks to a youth class. 

Side-by-side racing is still quite a unique sport in the UK, but what really makes it so unique is the friendship and comradery between the competitors.

You just have to look around the paddock and you can see the real sense of community that surrounds this sport.

Even outside the paddock, the competitors practise together, they share experiences on social media, they race online, they do business together. Everyone is a familiar face.

It’s just a great event, made up of really powerful, fun yet safe machines as well as really passionate, talented and friendly people.
