Episode 6 – France
Situated high up on a commanding limestone plateau just to the south-west of Libourne and Pomerol and facing Saint Emilion, Chateau de Sours is a beautiful Bordeaux vineyard spanning over 63 hectares. Its first vines were planted in 1792, and now the Chateau is being carefully restored to its former glory, with the help of Polaris Off-Road Vehicles.
For the sixth episode of the Ranger Stories series, Polaris visit the tranquil Chateau de Sours, owned by Alibaba co-founder Jack Ma, that utilises Polaris RANGER vehicles to manage the most important event on its calendar; the grape harvest. With the ability to tow heavy trailers filled with grapes from the field straight to the winery, as well as the accessible cargo bed that can carry the collecting equipment, the RANGER is the ideal vehicle for a labour-intensive day on the vineyard.
Chateau de Sours has seven Polaris RANGERs in operation across the estate, including the RANGER Diesel, RANGER XP 1000 and RANGER EV. Thanks to the VersaTrac Turf Mode setting that uses only one wheel to drive, the RANGER avoids creating any damage to the ground as it does not turn up the soil and can turn very tightly around the small rows of delicate vines, which is essential to maintain Chateau de Sours ethos of cultivating the vineyard with respect and taking care of the soil. With a small window of opportunity to harvest the grapes, Chateau de Sours chose the RANGER for its reliable engine, so they can be sure it will keep going all day long.
