POLARIS PROFILE: Rob Jameson, Polaris UK Technical Services Specialist
Next in line for our POLARIS PROFILE series is Rob Jameson, one of our technical services specialists who knows our vehicles inside and out and provides technical support to our UK dealer network.
Rob – how did you begin working for Polaris?
“It was just by chance that I was looking for a new job and Polaris were looking to employ someone experienced in this kind of role. I knew some people that had worked for Polaris so I had heard on the grapevine that the company culture was excellent and the quality of the product was very high. When I came in for my interview, I got a good vibe and the rest was history! I’ve been with Polaris for nearly five years now.”
Did you have any experience with Polaris’ products before you joined?
“I’ve always ridden motorcycles, it’s a big love of mine, so naturally I was already very familiar with the on-road brands that fall under the Polaris banner - i.e. Indian Motorcycles and Slingshot. I had limited knowledge of the off-road vehicles and snowmobile side of the business as I hadn’t ridden them before, so it’s been a steep but very enjoyable learning experience."
What does your role involve as part of the technical team?
“We all have multiple hats to wear so every day is varied which keeps it interesting. One of the most important parts of my role is to support our dealer network with technical assistance and warranty handling. I also am required to train new dealers and technicians on our vehicle range, - both two- and four-wheeled products across Indian Motorcycle and Polaris Off Road Vehicles. We also look after a press fleet of vehicles so there is every chance that you will find me getting my hands dirty in our workshop to keep my skills honed.”
What’s your favourite part of the job?
“Getting the opportunity to train our dealer network is always rewarding. It’s nice to be able to physically see people improving their skills as a direct result; we all learn from it.”
Do you have your favourite model/vehicle?
"My favourite at the moment has got to be the new all-electric Ranger XP Kinetic, hands down. As a technical person, it really interests me to see new and different technologies, and I’ve really enjoyed learning about this one particularly - and that extends to riding it too; the power and torque are truly impressive and its capabilities are seemingly endless."
Give us an interesting fact about yourself…
"A few years back, I was heavily involved in a motorcycle build project for the worlds most famous secret agent… so you could say I am a former member of Q branch…"
