Polaris GENERAL or RANGER – which should I buy?

The trailblazing Polaris GENERAL or the hardest-working Polaris RANGER? Whilst they may look vaguely similar with a rear cargo bed and space for a passenger, they both have very different characteristics.

The Polaris RANGER is very much a utility workhorse, designed for the user by the user – in the RANGER Diesel’s case particularly. Engineered as the ideal partner for the toughest tasks, the Polaris RANGER offers a superior bed box capacity, ample of storage and with a range from mid-size to full-size UTVs, electric to petrol and diesel there is a RANGER for any farmer, smallholder, or groundskeeper.

To see how RANGERs are used across the world, check out RANGER Stories.

Although the Polaris GENERAL looks not too dissimilar to the RANGER, it is catered more towards the recreational / leisure rider with more aggressive, sportier styling, the GENERAL is ideal for adventurous journeys and weekend getaways. Known as a cross-over side-by-side the Polaris GENERAL has its own rear cargo box for added versatility. Offering premium comfort features and nearly 30cm of ground clearance, the GENERAL is the perfect UTV for pure enjoyment mile after mile.

Due to the differences between the RANGER and GENERAL, there are also price differences. The sportier-designed GENERAL has premium features like the Rockford Fosgate Audio System and Polaris HD Winch and is available from £24,499.

Comparing that to the RANGER, which starts at £16,199 for the full-size RANGER 1000 model. The RANGER does, however, have a wide range of models available, like NORDIC PRO Edition which includes extras like a Polaris HD Winch, and an in-cab heater.

Overall the GENERAL 1000 is much more of a leisure vehicle with Fox suspension, a more reactive engine, ABS and a smaller cargo bed, therefore if you are spending the majority of your time completing tasks, a Polaris RANGER may be a better choice. It simply depends on how your work and play balance is split.

Struggling to decide which RANGER might be right for you? We have a blog story, ‘Which Polaris RANGER should I buy?’ that has the full breakdown to help you with what might be best for your needs.
